In Raging 004, eight artists are invited to engage in creative work and discussions around the imagery of “water”. It's like tapping eight differently shaped glass cups with a metal spoon and listening to the enchanting melodies they produce. You Liang uses a Chinese-style antique vase as a starting point to satirically showcase orientalism. Guan Shaoshuang discusses the aesthetic and artistic value behind well-known historical drowning incidents. Korean artist Jin Shengxu presents a lengthy exploration based on family oral history, using the Tumen River as a clue. Liu Yue, who has long been engaged in artistic practices inspired by Himalayan religious philosophy, introduces how she pursues spirituality within modern society through artistic expression. Hu Shunxiang, a highly regarded young artist, reflects on water and female consciousness in her creative work by looking back at her previous pieces. Xu Qin, a jewelry and fiber artist, explores the delicate connection between nature and humanity in her new works from a personal perspective. Pu Fan, a freelance illustrator settled near the coast of Sanya, showcases her water-inspired creative life through an interview. Ye Yi, who uses books as a creative medium, produces a handmade book on the theme of water, establishing a gentle connection between water and paper.
